Recipes

Many years ago, my children challenged me to record their favorite recipes and dishes on a website so that they could look them over, and maybe even try a few, when the appropriate time rolled around.  What began as a silly dare has grown into a larger project, and more of a lifestyle pursuit than I would have ever imagined.

To that point, as I continue to try new recipes that fit with my family’s evolved dietary philosophy, I have also started trying out other “novelties,” such as yoga and exercising more, plus a revival of my glassblowing skills from many many years ago.

Because I would like to write about, and share pictures of, these additional activities, I have created a new website at GregFly.com where I will continue to post about food, but will also add in a few other items as I see fit.  All of the recipes that once lived on this website have been moved over, but you can find them listed here for your convenience.

I normally have trouble getting a good “traditio I normally have trouble getting a good “traditional” slash pattern on my baguettes, which is why I really appreciate the implicit permission from a @breadwright YouTube video to try one long slash instead, much better results!  One day maybe I’ll graduate to the fancier pattern but this result works for me!

A little scared to cut into the sourdough, they look, and felt, a little off and not enough structure. But pretty happy with the croissants and really happy with the pain au chocolat!!

Day 2 of the online #kingarthurbaking class and we Day 2 of the online #kingarthurbaking class and we tackled baguettes today! I’ve got some real work to do if I want to develop a strong slash game as that step proved harder for me than I would have expected!

Last picture is of the work we did today on croissants (Day #2 of 3) which we’ll be shaping and baking tomorrow!

I’m gearing up for a 4 day online bread class an I’m gearing up for a 4 day online bread class and will be learning how to make several types of bread I’ve never even tried before, getting a little excited and anxious, so tried my hand at a real sourdough loaf, my first ever, to learn where I was most likely to have serious issues. Turns out I have serious issues with quite a few steps, but still pleased with how my first effort turned out!
